The City Clerk oversees qualifying for municipal elections. City Council members serve two, three-year terms. Candidates must be a registered voter and live within city boundaries for a minimum of six months prior to qualifying. MAITLAND 2022 MUNICIPAL ELECTION
A General Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, for Council Seat #1 (currently held by Mike Thomas) and Council Seat #3 (currently held by Michael Wilde). The persons elected to office will each serve a three-year term commencing the second Council meeting following the certification of the election. If a run-off election is necessary, it will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
Any person, who is a resident of the City, has the qualifications of an elector therein and has resided in the City of Maitland for the six-month period prior to qualifying, may become a candidate for nomination to the office of City Council.
The qualifying period officially opens at Noon on Monday, January 17, 2022 and closes at Noon on Friday, January 21, 2022. Individuals may announce their candidacy by completing forms provided by the City Clerk, any time prior to the qualifying period.
