House Checks

House CheckThe Maitland Police Department provides a service to our community by checking on homes or properties of residents who are away due scheduled vacations or unexpected travel. The information you provide tells the officers:

  • Who to contact in an emergency?
  • Will there be any vehicles parked at the home?
  • Is there an alarm or outside lighting?
  • Will anyone be working on the residence in your absence?

House Check Form

The House Check Form can be obtained from our Records Division. Once the form is complete, simply bring it to the Front Desk of the Police Department between the hours of 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday.

Please note: The Police Department needs a completed and signed House Check form and proof of residency or property ownership in order to conduct property or home checks.

To confirm that you are the property owner and that you have the authority to request the Housecheck, proof of residency or property ownership will need to be provided at time of request.  Identification accepted to process a Housecheck request includes:

  • Drivers License
  • State Identification Card
  • Utility Bill (mailing containing your name and address matching the property address)

Property Check

While away, an Officer will check on your home periodically. The frequency of the checks will be determined by the activity in the area and the workload of the Officer assigned to your area. Normally, properties are checked once per day.
