Prevent Vehicle Burglary

Vehicle Burglary

The Maitland Police Department encourages everyone to keep your vehicle safe from burglaries:

• Always lock your vehicle when leaving it – even in front of your home or business.
• Do not leave valuables like phones, computers and wallets in plain view.
• Never leave windows or sunroofs open.
• Don’t keep your garage door opener in the vehicle.
• Do not leave keys in the vehicle.
• Don’t keep documents with personal information in the vehicle.
• Store items in your trunk before you arrive on-site. Avoid storing items in your trunk after you park.
• Take your phone with you. Tech-smart burglars can detect the Bluetooth signal to determine if electronic devices are in your vehicle. Place your electronics in airplane mode or turn off the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi option, then power off your electronic devices.
• Park in well-lit areas.
• Watch for suspicious activity in your neighborhood.
• Use a vehicle alarm.
